Well, its official...my 9 month old otherwise healthy breastfed (Still 10 times a day) girl has jsut fallen to the 5% on the growth charts. the pedi, who is new, went on and on about how i need to feed her high fat foods and such. she then said taht it was time for her to have a hemoglobin check. I explained to her that I understand that BF infants fall off the second half of their first year with weight gain, which is normal and that I didnt think it was necessary to check her blood. She was very flustered at this and started tryign to convice me. But I gave her the evidence taht I had about BF babies not routinely needing FE supplementation. She also eats a lot of veggies and fruits, so I am not concerned. but the pedi is concerned taht I refused to have her poked...DOesnt seem taht she heard me...with all the evidence based info I gave her...kinda disconcerting. jsut my 0.02. :)
