Kathy- you talked about babies in Mali who don't crawl and are carried
upright. My babies, as US Americans, havent' liked that. they love being
carried but reach a point where they really want to get down- my oldest did
that at 7 mos while we were in Italy, which the Italians hated. I think
they wanted to see her in a stroller. :-O
so you have non-crawling content babies elsewhere, but who is giving my
babies the message that they should be different? Even my little boy at 4
mos wants to lie on my lap to nap and not in a carrier so I can do something
other than sit! Or do you suppose we are responding to cues differently
than mothers in other cultures?
these arent' facetious questions- I really want to hear your thoughts on
this.
Kate
