The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action celebrates its 10th anniversary
this week. If you would like to congratulate them in time for the party on
Feb 14, send an email now to [log in to unmask]

Sarah and Susan write: There will be "a small gathering of key
representatives from civil society organisations in the country and from
UNICEF. There will be an exhibit displaying programmes and campaigns of WABA
and its participating organisations. We have also invited a renowned
Malaysian artist (aged 87 years) to launch his latest batik painting on a
breastfeeding mother specially done to commemorate the occasion. We expect
about 50 participants, including the mass media to
cover the event."

Many Lactnetters know WABA through World Breastfeeding Week, and the WABA
website, and GLOPAR, and the WABA booths at La Leche League and ILCA
conferences, and from reports about the campaign for maternity protection at
the ILO over the last two years. Why not send 'em a message?

Here is what I sent:

Dear Friends at WABA,

Let me say just how much WABA's global viewpoint means to me as a USA-based
breastfeeding advocate. I count on you to help us understand the "Big
Picture" for breastfeeding all around the world. We have so much to learn
about the challenges all women face and the solutions they find.

WABA has helped me to meet creative and dedicated colleagues everywhere. I
thank you and I wish you great success in the coming years.
