A mother that came to one of my LLL meetings showed me this "suggestion", to improve colic, that appeared in a British magazine called Practical Parenting (November 2000): "If cow's milk protein is the problem and you're breastfeeding, then an alternative might be to drink three bottles of Yacult, Actimel or Go each day. Very early results from a small study suggest this may be enough to enhance the mother's immune system and stop absortion and excretion of proteins into the breast milk. When it works, the effects seem dramatic -usually within 24 hours. Early (unpublished) results show 16 out of 18 babies who met the colic definition, improved, and 14 of them were completely better".
She says her baby has responded extremelly well, but wanted some more information about it. Anybody has heard about this?
Thanks,
Lavinia, LLL Madrid
