Hi. This is my first post to Lactnet. I am a WIC Peer Counselor and
Lactation Specialist. My daughter was 30 inches long and weighed only 18
lbs at 15 months. She had a good day if she ate 10 bites of food all day.
I didn't worry because she breastfed at least eight times a day so I knew
she was getting nutrition. She is now 18 months old and eating a little
better - up to 20 bites of food a day. She now weighs 20lbs. I was lucky
enough to have a doctor who is also an IBCLC. She reassured me when I
worried about her lack of eating solids. (I began worrying about it around
8 months.) I guess the proof is in that she has had only two illnesses in
her life -minor virus and ear infection. I know that she is healthy and
developmentally normal. That's what is important. You certainly can't
force them to eat. I know because I've tried.
