Dear Friends:
    Cindy tells of her history, a formula fed premature infant who is healthy
as an adult. Hearing that formula fed infants are sickly doesn't fit with her
personal experience.
    Cindy, statistics and studies apply to populations, not indviduals. So if
you look at 10,000 formula fed infants and compare them with 10,000 breastfed
infants, there will be more sickness in the formula fed group.
    We all know of someone who smoked and drank and lived to be 92.
Therefore, can we say "Go ahead, smoke and drink....it won't matter?" I don't
think so.
    Seat belts are no guarantee of survival in a car crash. However the odds
are so much in one's favor that it is worth it to wear them. Same with
breastfeeding, and natural childbirth and other health promoting behaviors.
Breastfeeding is not a guarantee of complete health forever, and the odds get
boosted so much in favor of health that it is worth it.
