I have just today learned there will be a public hearing on
Wednesday, April 4, at the Maine State House in Augusta, Maine, to
hear public comments on LD 1396, "An Act to Encourage and Support a
Mother's Decision to Breast-feed in this State." I spoke earlier today
with the sponsor of the bill, and she has promised to get back to me
with more information, including the addresses of the members of the
Judiciary Committee. The bill is still in committee, and the committee
will make its recommendation about the bill's status after next week's
hearing. I realize this information does not directly affect many on
Lactnet. If you live in Maine and would like to know more, please
contact me privately and I will send you information when I receive
it.
