Alexis, I want to encourage you to turn the 5 page letter into an article
and submit it, along with the story of why you wrote it, to one of the many
magazines that occasionally take articles from readers. Then write your
doctor a 2 paragraph letter that merely states why you are unhappy with her
(her apparant lack of knowledge about bfg). Suggest that she may want to
pursue education specific to lactation so she can better support her
patients in the future. Then let her know you are changing pediatricians
for this reason.

I can virtually guarantee you that a 5 page letter will #1. Not be read
#2 Seem hysterical, an over-reaction, and will get you dismissed rather than
listened to. #3 Is pointless, as the pediatrician will not accept education
offered in this manner. If you are convinced you want to share info. go to
a medical library and do a bit of research and copy the abstract pages of
4-5 good articles from peer reviewed medical journals and enclose these with
your letter. You can take a yellow marker and highlight a salient point or
two in the abstracts that contradict info you were given.
