I have a mom with questions re: the best type of plastic containers to
store EBM in for her full-term baby, now 6 months old. My JHL reference is
from 1992 - which says for a baby in a NICU, use glass or polycarbonate.
For a baby at home, polyethylene bags are acceptable. Also, that
polypropylene has advantages over polyethylene in maintaining the stability
of the properties in human milk, esp SIgA. Then I read in Consumer Reports
that one type of plastic (?I thought polycarbonate) was thought to leach
bisphenol A into the milk - this is similar to estrogen. I'm so
confused!!!! Can anyone advise me! Thanks - Janna in CT
