I think that this mother should be able to do just fine nursing on one
breast. Look at mothers of twins -- each baby only gets one breast then, too.
We had a mother recently who had a breast cyst removed in her teens -- the
milk came in bilaterally, but would not express for baby or a pump on the
affected side. She continued to nurse on the non-affected side and the
involved side dried up. She did say that she felt a little unbalanced and
even self conscious initially -- but her thriving baby kept her going! I
think the baby's about 3 months by now and last I heard they're going strong.
