<Is it possible to SNS
with a nipple shield? >
Yes, it is. My client found a Hazelbaker finger feeder much easier to use
in this manner than would an actual SNS have been. The feeder had already
been in use for its original purpose due to latch problems with a large
flat nipple with very, very deep reservoirs.
The shield was a temporary intervention used to bridge from aversive
behavior (for multiple reasons) to eventual full breastfeeding at the
natural nipple. Mom (or Dad) could provide small "boluses" with it,
directly into the shield, whenever needed. Took weeks, but it worked.
