In Hale's book it also mentions that alcohol has been approved by the AAP for
use in breastfeeding women.  I think moderation is the key.

I do not suggest pregnant women drink alcohol, but there was a time that
doctors told them it was fine to have a glass of wine to relax.   I also
believe that the babies who are suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome have
moms who are abusing alcohol, not having the occassional glass of wine.
