Regarding the mom with the autistic (or presumed autistic) child,
Melisa wrote:

"Sadly this is causing quite a disruption in her family as her
husband has already told her if it's because of the implants he
would never forgive her."

To me this is a red flag that there are other relationship problems
involved. Surely he "enjoyed the benefits" of her implants. If she
had them before meeting him, did they have any part in attracting
him to her? Now he wants to blame her for having them if the
child's problems can be blamed on the implants. Some "experts" feel
that family relationships impact on autism (although it is a highly
debated topic and not as definite as in the past when the immediate
assumption was the parents are to blame). In particular, a
"detached father" was one element. If he has heard this or if he
does fit the description of "detached father" then his saying he
could never forgive her is his way of avoiding facing his own
possible role in the problem! Having a child with a problem can put
a strain on any relationship, even more so if the relationship
already has disfunctional aspects.
I know this is somewhat removed from LN topics, but I was really
annoyed by the comment and had to respond.
Winnie
