I am responsible for the quote Marie pointed to as an example of something
that offends her on Lactnet and wish to apologize for offending her and any
others who may be suffering in silence.

Obviously my attempt at humor failed as far as Marie (and likely others too)
are concerned.  I hope you will all accept my apology.  Although I can't
promise I won't offend anyone ever again, I can promise to take it seriously
when someone brings it to my attention.

I was trying to avoid bashing a group, by being specifically mean-spirited
about one person in the group's ranks, who in my opinion doesn't deserve the
title.  That title is one I respect highly.  I also disagree openly on
specific issues with many people who hold that title, and others.  And I
have a pattern of using sarcasm to make points.  I guess this was not one of
the more successful ones and for the bed feelings it may have caused, I am
sorry.
