Mary Kay........ I assume you are putting a topical anti-fungal on the
nipple and areola first before the hydrogel? I was under the impression that
hydrogel would not be appropriate for yeast because the added moisture and
darkness would set up an environment more conducive to yeast rather than
inhibitive. I do recall that one of the manufacturers says that their pads
have anti-fungal properties, but I've been wary regardless. I have always
discouraged using lansinoh/purelan for the above reason, though the latter
situation is different in that mothers are using either the lansinoh OR the
anti-fungal. Am I wrong in my assumption? Do hydrogel pads not contribute to
yeast problems at all?  If you have a protocol on this, I would be
interested.
