Often using the lactation aid at the breast allows the mother's nipples to
heal, because the baby nurses better, nurses faster, and can nurse on just
one side. I do not use a nipple shield for sore nipples, I feel it is just
not useful. *Fix the latch*, use the APNO (all purpose nipple ointment). I
don't think I have *ever* suggested a nipple shield for sore nipples, and
only rarely for not latching.
