Dear Friends:
'Born in the USA' will be aired on October 27 on public television. For
some reason (ACOG pressure is a speculation) it is being aired at very odd
times. At 1 AM in Montana; at 11 pm in Philadelphia. Since birth is the
foundation for breastfeeding, and this film shows some powerful truths about
hospital births, it is important for as many people as possible to become
involved promoting this independent documentary.
One scene is of a doctor's conference where the attending asks "How come
a particular woman couldn't push out a 7 pound baby?" and everyone's body
language says "Guess we goofed on that one and sectioned her unnecessarily.
Whoops!" Gives me the chills.
Local stations can be bombarded with letters requesting a decent showtime
for this important documentary.
There is a party at 6 pm in the Great Court at Pennsylvania Hospital
where folks will gather, have fun, and watch a run of the video. If you are
in town, come on by.
Warmly,
Nikki Lee RN, MSN, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CIMI
craniosacral therapy practitioner; childbirth educator
Elkins Park (a suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; northeastern USA)
supporter of the WHO Code and the Mother Friendly Childbirth Initiative
