Katherine asks, "Is there a viable way for the mothers to express milk and
treat it?"
Excellent question! I asked it myself, but it was thought that this would
be too "different", and probably identify the mothers as HIV+. Sigh.
"Is donor milk out of the question?" - Afraid so. My babies (18 years ago)
received raw unpasteurized donor milk while in the hospital (I feel now that
we had a near miss with this) but anonymous sentinel surveillance testing of
pregnant women shows that over 30% of them test positive for HIV, so donor
milk is never considered now. And no, there are no milk banks.
