I have also worked with a mom who relactated after being ill-advised to wean
at three months for a med she was prescribed (she did not contact me!!). It
turned out that her baby could not tolerate ANY artificial baby formulas, and
after a month or so, she rented a pump and began pumping to stimulate her
supply. Unfortunately, the baby was already used to bottles, and the mom too
overwhelmed to attempt to re-teach the baby to breastfeed, so she was pumping
upwards of 45 ounces per day and bottle-feeding it to her baby. I offered
several options to try and teach the baby how to feed at the breast but the
mom declined.
