Linda Smith and Kay Hoover are good examples of US LCs who emphasize the
teaching
componant of our work. They are so skilled at reaching and connecting
with groups, and I am always so impressed when I watch the two of them
work. I
think we are sunk if we don't reach out beyond the true believers to enlist
some support from the docs and nurses and RDs. There just aren't enough of
us, and most of us somehow aren't connecting well enough.
Since Linda is on this list, I wish she would muse out loud about how she
manages to make those connections beyond the choir loft.
I'd also like to hear of examples of other people's success stories in
connecting within their communities, and how they managed to build bridges.
We each have a story a week that would break your heart, and while we need
to know what we're up against, we also need strategies to survive and
overcome.
