Dear friends,
I am going to nomail for the next couple of weeks as I am again going to the
Philippines on a medical mission with Operation Smile. This organization does
wonderful work with children born with cleft deformities all around the world
(Check out their website at Operationsmile.org). Last year my site alone did
200 life-changing surgeries, with almost 1000 done on the entire Philippines
mission at 5 sites.
How is this breastfeeding related?? I was amazed to learn last year that most
of the moms there nurse their babies with cleft deformities because they do
not know or have other options....and probably, because no one told them that
they couldn't!!!
Wish me a safe journey and a successful mission. I will miss your collective
wisdom and camaraderie here.
Fondly,
Kathy Rubin in NJ
