I have same rqst as Martha Johnson does. Ours is a very new Lactation
program. We have yet to begin writing P&P. Our hospital's Outpatient
Clinic has requested LC consults several times this week, but our NR/Mgr
is declining those requests for lack of Protocols on who does what and
how to pay for it. She is asking us (LCs) how this should be done. We
can tell her who does what, but we have no clue how the hosp is to pay
for it. My best sugg is to have each dept, in this case the OutPt
Clinic, have any consults they request, charged to their own budget.
But I thought the RN/Mgr would know or be able to find out the mechanics
of those charges.
TIA for any suggestions. We hate to turn down these requests, but then
again, the Clinic could keep one or more of us busy full time and I
don't think we can stretch that far. Maybe next year....
