I am writing in response to the letter asking why support and peer
counselor groups are necessary, and are they duplicating the work of La
Leche League?
I consider these to be valid questions. However, there is DEFINITELY a
place for each of these groups.
A hospital group fills an immediate need for brand new moms.
LaLecheLeague fills a vital need for moms to suppor t and educate
each-other.
As A WIC Nutrititionist and BF Coordinator, I have had WIC moms tell me
they felt very uncomfortable at La Leche League meetings.
My point is that all these groups fill different roles, and no one is
"better" than the other.
