I just got a letter from Dianne Feinstein, one of the Senators we visited
during the ILCA Convention which says in part:
"On September 11, 2000, Senator Olympia Snowe (R-ME), introduced S.3023,
the "Pregnancy Discrimination Act Amendments of 2000." It was referred to
the Committee of Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. Neither H.R. 1163,
the "Breastfeeding Promotion and Employer's Tax Incentive Act", nor H.R.
3372, the "Safe and Effective Breast Pumps Act", have been introduced in
the Senate. Please know that I will take these pieces of legislation under
serious consideration should they be brought before the entire Senate.
"As a mother and a legislator, I share your belief in the importance of
breastfeeding. It is widely recognized that breastfeeding benefits the
infant by supplying it with the nutrients and vitamins that a young body
needs."
____
Jeanette here:
I urge those with the interest in this to write to their senators,
especially those who are in the Committee of Health, Education, Labor and
Pensions.
