As it has been awhile since I posted, I am an RN, IBCLC who is volunteering
my services (about 20 hours a week) at an US Air Force Base in the UK. We
have recently had a mom from the Portsmouth area who delivered a 37 week
infant who has a short frenulum. No one at the base will clip until at
least 6 months and then with anesthesia. Heather or other UK people, are
you aware of anyone in the Portsmouth area who supports clipping? Her
midwives told her they usually let the frenulum remain as is. The only way
that I have been able to help with latch is using a shield. He does barely
extend his tongue over the ower gums but has difficulty staying latched
without. The family will also be going to Scottsdale Arizona in December
for a visit. If anyone is knowledgeable of someone in these two areas
please contact me privately as I will be nomail for a week. Thanks for any
help.
