Let me try one more time!!!!!!!!!
Below (if all goes well), you should see the results of my informal survey
related to FTEs and delivery rate per year. I do not proport that these
results are anything other than what they are--a compilation of numbers
provided to me. I attempted to sort out as best I could the information
that you all supplied. There are many of you who wear several hats. I
tried to sort out the case manangement, perinatal education, and other
duties that were shared. I don't pretend that I have sorted them absolutely
accurately, but have made the best "guess" I can based on the information
supplied.
To aid in understanding the data, I calculated all the results as a ratio of
FTEs per 1000 births. (I also don't guarentee that the math is perfect). As
you can see, the results and locations are varied. However, to the
statistics people, it does appears to be a normal, "Bell shaped curve" with
the mean, median, and mode all being 0.7 FTEs per 1000 births. For those of
you who don't "speak" administrative jargon, the easiest way to thing of the
FTEs is in terms of the number of 8-hour shifts one works in 2 weeks (14
says). A full-time equivelent would work 10 days out of 14, this work be a
1.0. The average of my survey is 0.7 FTEs. (Multiply by 10 you have 7).
Therefore the average LCs in a hospital work 7 eight hour shifts out of 14
days (2 weeks). One more example to help those of you who don't talk
FTEs--The highest ratio was 1.7 FTEs per 1000 births. This means in two
weeks there are 17 eight hour shifts worked. (Kudos to Mercy Memorial
Health Center).
Again, thanks to all of you who supplied information to my informal tally.
