It sounds like "perceived insufficient milk supply" that is talked about in
the book "Breastfeeding and Human Lactation" by Jan Riordan and Kathleen
Auerbach.  Maybe what this mom doesn't realize is that at 3 1/2 months, her
baby may be "done" after a few minutes at breast, and then want some more in
another 1/2 hour.  Do you have a gram scale that you could use to do pre and
post weights on a feeding to find out how much baby gets at one of those
brief feedings?  I get that kind of phone call frequently, where the baby who
initially nursed for 30-60 minutes at a stretch is now going 5 minutes or
less at a feeding.  If baby's pulling away, he's probably done for the
moment!  I ask about wet and dirty diapers, weight gain, etc, and if all is
fine, I explain it to the mom that her body and baby have gotten much more
efficient and it just isn't taking as long as it used to!
