Subject: Going Baby Friendly
Linda,
The ten steps to baby friendly are just about the standard of care of any
hospital that has a sizable maternity service. There is one that is
problematic in some facilities . ( There have been those in pursuit of Baby
Friendly certificate that have actually lost their jobs in the pursuit of
the certificate. Then you are of no use to any one within that facility )
It is just not valued by some facilities.
It seems to me that it would be more strategic to put in place "The
Mother-Friendly Childbirth Initiative "drafted by The Coalition for
Improving Maternity Services. (CIMS) Take care of the mother --empower her
and she will be the one to take care of the baby. The empowered parents
will advocate for the Baby Friendly.

Good Luck
