Hi Dr. Bob,
Thanks for writing to Lactnet; I appreciate your openness to dialogue. I can
imagine that this has been a difficult time for your family. Even though I
am concerned about the tens of thousands of women who may have been
influenced by the advertisements, taking them down is definitely a step in
the right direction!
Since you have expressed interest in opening a dialogue, I do have a few
questions that you may be able to clear up.
1) I'm confused about something. If your family had no knowledge that the
formula ads would be there, how was the open letter explaining their
presence drafted, and by whom?
2) What is the nature of the relationship between Dr. Sears (that is, "Dr.
Bill") and PBM Products/Wyeth? I am not sure I understand, and there is a
lot of hearsay on this issue.
3) Who paid for the design of the askdrsears.com site, and who did the
actual design?
Thank you again for expressing interest in answering questions from the
professionals and parents who have supported your work for years.
