>breastfeeding?
And educate her on the correct use of the term. Since a 19 month old is
still a year away from the beginning of a physiologically normal weaning
age, "extended" nursing is a wholly inappropriate term for his/her
behavior. Like calling a 6 month fetus the product of an "extended"
pregnancy. Makes no sense, and further distorts our perception of normalcy.
The 7 or 8 year old who's still nursing is practicing extended nursing -
nursing at or beyond the expected age for weaning. A 19 month old is
just... nursing.
