Susan states;
>>I have a question for those who are both RN and LC. Do any of you (besides
myself) ever feel that the dual roles represent a potential conflict of
interest? I am referring to the role of the hospital nurse in it's breadth and
need to consider all the potential effects of a demanded change, as opposed to
the laser focus of the LC who must focus on the baby friendly standards and
the
promotion of breastfeeding.<<
Dear Susan, No, though I have heard other LCs that I have worked with
mention this as a concern. My feeling is that if you are a "patient centered"
nurse ie. you always operate from the vantage point of what is best for
Mom/baby, there shouldn't be conflict between the roles at all.
