I have permission to forward this query from a midwifery research list to
Lactnet. Please respond to him directly as he is not on Lactnet: Andrew
Lindsay [log in to unmask]
He would be happy to hear from Lactnetters in NZ as well. Here is his
request:
'I have been asked to consider the evidence around breastfeeding and
avoidable paediatric hospital admissions.
Are there any studies/literature that have quantified the benefits of breast
feeding in terms of the number of admissions prevented in breastfed
children, including cost benefit or economic evaluations conducted?
I am required to demonstrate the cost benefit of promoting breastfeeding to
support a programme aimed at improving the rate of breastfeeding.
Thanks,
Andrew
