Please do not take this as anything but an honest question from one who
doesn't know. I work as a staff midwife on a postnatal ward, together with
a health semiprofession of postnatal carers. All of us spend a good part of
our days doing BF support (some are better than others, but all do it, it's
the most important part of the job). We have over 98% BF initiation rates
and 40% still BF at a year. There are currently no hospital-based LCs,
board certified or otherwise, working in Norway, and as the credential is
not recognized here as conferring license to practice in any way, none will
be hired for that purpose unless they are in possession of some other kind
of license as well.
so now for my question.
What are OB nurses required to do that keeps them from doing BF support?
