I have a mom who has a preemie infant and is taking Ritalin. Mom says she must have it. Per Dr. Hale's book, this is an L4 drug, or "hazardous", but benefits to the infant should be weighed against the risk.
Does anyone have any other input on the use of this drug, or what do you tell moms who are taking Ritalin and wanting to breastfeed? There is not much research on this drug with breastfeeding.
Dr. Hale, if you are "out there" and have any new data, please reply!!
Thanks,
Brenda Phipps, BS, IBCLC
