I know some LCs who hate

I'm not hospital based, but do use or suggest mom uses an at-breast feeding
system. I notice that indeed some moms don't like the idea or find it difficult
to work with. My idea is that they don't like it that there is a device
inbetween mom and baby (making it ''breast feeding'' rather than
''breastfeeding'', to link it to another LN discussion).
Some moms choose to use a syringe to give supplementation while the baby is at
the breast, others choose to supplement after breastfeeding. I do not know the
reasons for this, as (in my evaluation of different cases) I present the use of
an SNS in the same way to all moms that might benefit from it.
In the majority I suggest using an SNS for moms who seem (to me) to be
overwhelmed by the amount of time it seems to take them to improve a decreased
supply. Note here that most moms in my area think a baby feeds 7 times/24 in the
initial days and moves to 6/24 shortly after, so the idea of having to feed a
baby for weeks/months a minimum of 8/24 seems overdone to them and then speeding
up to min. 12/24 to increase a bad supply is overwhelwing to them.
