<< << He states a bit more on this subject but doesn't say breastfeeding
mothers
don't make enough DHA?! >>
>Since the American diet tends to be deficient in all essential fatty acids,
I
would assume we are deficient in DHA as well. I personally consider it wise
to take supplements of essential fatty acids, including DHA. There is a great
book on the market called "Fats That Heal, Fats That Kill" by Udo Erasmus.
Quite an eye opener--I highly recommend it.

I was going to add this before but the children were in the background
telling me to hurry up so we could see the fireworks.... : -)
The Family Nutrition Book by W.Sears
P.243 Best Fats for Lactation
"To be sure that baby gets enough nutrients for his growing brain, a
breastfeeding mother would be wise to be sure she is getting enough DHA in
her diet. Rich sources are seafood(particularly salmon and tuna) and algae
oils. Flax oil contains the omega-3 precursors to DHA. Studies show that the
DHA content of breast milk in American women is about one-third to one-half
that of woman from other cultures that eat a diet high in seafood, such as
Malaysia, India, and China. Studies also show that the breats milk of vegan
mothers may be low in DHA. So remember Dr. Bill's nutritional rule of F's :4
ounces of fish and one serving of flax a day keeps central-nervous-system
degeneration at bay."
I think getting this naturally in the diet would be better than any pill.
