<It grew strep, but the doctor says not in levels to cause
infection. Mom is ready to wean. Any advice?>
that's the trouble with doing investigations - we don't always know what to
do with the results!
Lawrence cites a study by Sosa and Barness (1987) of bacterial cultures of
expressed milk: 6 samples (15%) were positive for strep.
If the history is suggestive of thrush, I would still probably be treating
the nipple and breast pain as thrush.
Keep in mind that some candida doesn't respond to fluconazole. It could be
worth considering ketoconazole.
