"When I stopped eating anything that conteined cow milk protein
a dietitian calculated that I had recieved 1/6 of my daily
calories and proteins from dairy products."

Unfortunately, I have worked with mothers who consume milk products at a
much higher percentage of daily intake. One mother and I loosely
calculated that 1/2 of her diet was heavily dairy. She drank at least a
quart of milk every day, ate cheese on/with almost everthing, yogurt, ice
cream. Whenever she was hungry and rushed she reached for dairy foods. She
ate very few vegetables or fruits. She had no idea that her diet was
unbalanced.

We had to work long and hard to find a diet that she could accept and which
would maintain her weight. When dairy foods have been a disproportionate
part of a woman's diet, just eliminating it leaves a large void. But the
improved diet that she creates will serve her health much better throughout
her life.
