Dear Sue,
I am not very knowledgable about the anatomy and/or biochemistry of the body
and how it affects voice, but could these changes in your client's voice have
something to do with the many changes a woman's body experiences during
pregnancy? Maybe loose ligaments or some extra weight gain are a factor in
her vocal changes. I think you said that the baby was 4-5 monthes old -
perhaps a little "tincture of time" would allow her voice to return to its
former glory. Some courses of study include those history of... or theory
of... courses that would give her voice the opportunity to return to its
pre-pregnant self while keeping her current with her scholarship program.
Just a thought.
