Subject: getting sick while BF

Dear wise ones,

A lay breastfeeding counselor asked me for help in the following
situation. I
have not met a situation like this before and would like some input from
from
more experienced ones.
Morther of 6wo boy gets sick since the early days of breastfeeding this
baby
during breastfeeding, she does not vomit but feels bad and it occacional
gets
black for her eyes. She describes it as the feeling one can get after a
busy day
with inadequate food intake. Drinking lots of water helps a bit.
May well be that she's hungry... how can we ever be sure if someone is
getting all they need? Parenting can really take its toll, if the
resources are low. Low blood pressure, low thyroid function and nausea
all seem to be related. Maybe they are related to hormones; many moms I
know like this have horrible morning sickness during pregnancy, too.
Also, you didn't say how she feels, emotionally, about her situation.
PPD can cause physical symptoms, too, of course. In that case, it might
be treated by nutrition, counselling, alternative approaches... lots of
possibilities.
