Hi, I have been in charge of lactation services at our hospital for 10
months. I am currently working with a patient (unable to conceive) but who
has a surrogate mother carrying her baby due june 1st. She desperately wants
to breast feed the baby. She has been pumping 9x day for 4 weeks and has
had po reglan. She began producing drops of milk with 2nd round of reglan
and milk stopped as soon as reglan ran out. I consulted with 2 other hosp
LC's and even called the lactation clinic of Dr Ruth Lawrence and spoke with
lc there. I have gotten mixed reviews as to what to do from here. I have
researched but keep finding a lot of info on increasing supply not inducing
it. Will another round of Reglan be beneficial or will milk always cease
after reglan gone. Pt enc to contin pumping and bf baby with sns to help
stimulate further production, once baby is here. I would appreciate any
insight since this is the first time I have dealt with this situation.
Thankyou, Katrina Leary RN BSN actively pursuing
