It is rather common for a person who is sensitive to milk products to also
react to beef, which is also a bovine protein. If a baby is somewhat
better with the elimination of dairy products (all of them) but still has
some symptoms, I suggest that mother add beef to her elimination list.
Often this resolves the problem.
I, like the rest of you, hate telling a mother that her baby is bothered by
something that she likes to eat and that she needs to avoid it. But it
isn't the fault of breastfeeding, but of the years of NOT breastfeeding.
When a mother was fed cows milk in whatever form it was given when she was
an infant, then a reaction is set up that causes baby to be sensitized
during the pregnancy. Then when she eats the offending food baby reacts to it.
It took a couple of generations to get where we are and it will take at
least that long to reverse it. The mothers that we are working with are
(hopefully) the beginning of that transition.
