Just finished a review course last week in Phil. with Jan Barger and Carole Peterson and want to thank them for a great course.
I am still nervous about the IBCLC exam but feel better prepared now and hopefully study appropriately. One positive experience about retaking the exam is, I feel I am learning a lot more than I did the first time around. There is so much research going on now, although a lot more needs to be done. It is interesting that the more is done, the more the basics are reinforced.
An example is that breastmilk is fairly constant no matter what the mother eats. Another is that the best thing is to have the baby eat ASAP after birth, often, and on demand.
Best wishes to all my classmates taking the exam, and everyone else on 7/31/00.
Regards,
Ellen Mahony, RN, MS, LCCE, IBCLC
