Lactnetters
I have posted before about hospital cutbacks, and hospital barriers to bf,
etc. I am still considering going into private practice, which I have done
in the past, coupled with rental station, when I was more of a novice. If
you were to go into private practice, or if you have done so, or are doing
so, what would you initially absolutely need to start?
Obviously finances are tight, esp. now with cutbacks. Like I am thinking I
need
- ref books of course, the latest Hales (I have these at work, but would
need my own)
- a scale : do I really need one? I am definitely a pro scale person.
- do you carry nipple shields, nursing supplementers with you - or do you
advise mom purchase same and return to you next appointment.
- I know many LCs do not do pump rentals, and I do not want to do this, so
do you see the mom first, then refer her for this?
Hope enough Priv. Pract. lactnuts are around to respond.
Thanks alot.
