Dear Friends:
Wonderful, thoughtful posts on birth and death around 4 AM. Lots of
reasons for passage between worlds at that time, no matter which direction
one is traveling in.
This reminds me of all night dancing. I have been to many all-night
contra dances in New England, at places like Chelsea House and Burlington,
Vermont. Bands like Applejack; callers like Dudley Laufman and Michael
McKernan. So much fun. The really great dances had a different band and
caller every hour or two. That kept the energy up.....except at 4 AM. That
was the big, big slump time. If one could keep moving, the energy would pick
up again around dawn. If one made the mistake of sitting down "for a minute"
at 4 AM, one often did not get up to dance again.
I think 4 AM is a big shift in hormonal and electrolyte flow also. Which
comes first? I like to think the sun came before cortisol and potassium.
    Warmly,
