Hi lactnetters,
I am sorry my message just transmitted as the title. My question is
from a mom of a 2 1/1 yr. old who was put on zoloft for depression, she
called it pp depression, but I think that is past the definition time of pp
depression. Anyway, she feels it is giving her insomnia and was asking if
there are sleep aids, she asked about kava kava, I searched the archives
and didn't find any references.(Also, trying to study for the IBCLC exam
and don't have the time to do a lot of research now, seem to be getting
more calls than ever this week!)
I suggested taking the zoloft at night so the insomnia effects may be
during the day. I called the Rochester center for lactation and they said
kava kava is not recommended for nursing moms as it may have LSD type
effects. They suggested ambien as a possible prescription for this mom. Any
experts have anyother sleep, antianxiety aids that may be recommended for
this very anxious mom. Baby still nurses several times at night, too. TIA
for any info.
