Well, here I am again, being trained - and questioning the trainers.
The statement I was told was: A 4 month old baby starts waking up in the
night after sleeping "through the night" - you should try to meet the
baby's needs in other ways, but not feed it at this time or they'll
establish a habit of waking again.
My response:
Babies may be more "busy" in the daytime and may actually be skipping
"meals" or shortening them due to distraction and may actually be hungry.
Mom may be more busy - or even back to work and baby may be hungry for
contact with mom.
Mom's milk supply may be going down because both are too busy and may need
the "boost" of the night feeding at a time when the prolactin levels are
higher.
(this last one is the one I need help on - do we have references on this?)
