Re: Citalopram(Celexa)
We now have several studies on citalopram. Levels in milk are reported to be
quite small, and I have roughly calculated the dose to be approximately 4.3 to
14.6 ug/Kg/day via milk following an average maternal dose of 410 ug/kg/d.
While few researchers have noted problems, the manufacturer reports two cases of
somnolence. I'm not sure if this is related or not, who knows what could have
caused this in these patients.
So, Celexa, is probably moderately safe to use, if the mom observes for sedation.
