Terriann's mom probably has mastitis that has been tx with the wrong drugs.
Stringy, gloppy milk with a sour taste as it comes out of the breast and
after it has been sitting is a marker for mastitis in herd animals and in
women. A culture of the milk might give the MD a better idea of what drugs
to chose. It is beyond my scope of practice to recommend drugs, but Tom
Hale's 1999 edition describes dicloxacillin as "an oral
penicillinase-resistant penicillin frequently used for peripheral (non CNS)
infections caused by Staph. aureus and Staph epidermidis infections,
particularly mastitis."
