Claudia: It is my understanding that as much as 90 percent of the fat can be
lost in the NG tubes so a bottle would be better than that, but perhaps a
syringe would be better (cup feeding loses average of 28 percent on the bib,
being messy and wasteful) or finger feeding (tubes are smaller and shorter) I
would think the mom might want to make a big effort to nurse as much as
possible to avoid latch problems (not to mention bradycardia, oxygen
saturation and all the rest) and get that baby home. Maybe if she can pump
more hindmilk and get his weight up she can get him home sooner. That's my
syringe worth of ideas but my expertise is more at home as a doula than in
